Head of Household #6: The Family Guy Spin-Off


Hello houseguests and welcome to your 6th Head of Household competition. Connie D'Amico, as outgoing Head of Household, you're not eligible to compete.


For this challenge, you will be creating a spin off show of Family Guy. The catch? Either the protagonist or one of the main characters of your show MUST be the character that you're playing in this game. Hey, if Cleveland got his own show, I don't see why Meg cant have her own show?


Anyway, you will be graded using this criteria:

For example, Bonnie would be creating a show with Bonnie as either its main character or a major character. The rest is up to her.

The Show Name: Origins of The Giant Chicken

Characters: Ernie - He is the protagonist of this show.

Nicole - The chicken Ernie is trying to impress.

Kyle - The firend who told him he'd probably never see Peter again. He is actually Ernie's best friend and very supportive of him.

Hal - Ernie's arch-nemesis is high school (pretty much like what Connie is to Meg). He also wants to date Nicole, much to Ernie's spite.

Jo - Ernie's mother, who firmly believes that Ernie should start dating men because he has no shot in picking up women. She is married to Henry, but is, on some nights, secretly going to clubs so she could have sex with chickens her gender.

Henry - Ernie's father, who firmly believes that Ernie shouldn't be trying to pick up girls and focus on school. He is married to Jo. He works as a lawyer and even meets with Mayor West on several occasions.

Freddie - Ernie's older brother, whose mind is seldom set on anything other than getting high and/or wasted.

Premise: This is an account of Ernie the Giant Chicken from his high school days, though the final season has an epilogue where Ernie obtains the coupon that starts his feud with Peter. Ernie and Hal have a feud that goes on throughout the entire series beause they both want to date Nicole, which Ernie's entire family disapproves and his parents often criticizes or rebukes him for it while Freddie doesn't care and thinks that Ernie should just get stoned all the time. Hal and Ernie get into many Michael Bay-esque fights throughout the series and it usually causes as much destruction to Quahog as the fights Ernie always has with Peter, which is how Ernie got his fighting style with Peter in the first place. However, instead of there always being one victor, the matches are sometimes won by Ernie and others by Hal, making their wins pretty evened-up. In the final season, Ernie finally convinces Nicole to take him over Hal when he pushes her out of the way of a speeding car and gets hit, which happens to be Quagmire's car, while Hal is eating popcorn as he watches Ernie get hit by the car. Kyle, Ernie's best friend, is the only character who is ever supportive of him and his desires and often tries to give him dating advice so he can finally be with Nicole, even though the advice given to him always fails because Ernie always either strays exactly one detail every time or gets thwarted by either Hal or his parents (and even one time by Mayor West).

Host: I think this is a cool idea for a show. The only problem I have is that it sounds more like a drama than a comedy show. Not only that, but having a chicken as the main character could be a hard task. I did like the fact that you included the coupon thing and had a cameo by Mayor West.

Name: Swansons in the City.


About the Swansons moving to New York after Joe got a promotion as an Agent. Bonnie also owns a beauty spa, it's a small business but doing fine, The Swansons try and settle into the big City, but things don't always go the Swanson's way.


Characters:


Joe Swanson - Peter's best friend. Joe gets a promotion from the police force and are relocated to New York. Joe's parther, Ray, doesn't get on with him at first.




Bonnie - Joe's wife. Bonnie decided to look for a small store up fo sell as she does not want to be in the housr all day and thinks this she will meet different and interesting people.



Kevin and Susie - Kevin is the son of Joe and Bonnie and Susie is the daughter. Kevin enrolled in College and Susie is at daycare.




Amy Bee - Bonnie's Beauty Rival, who has a store across the road. She is not happy that Bonnie has opened a Beauty Spa near hers. She usually fakes her mood, like fake nice.



Ray - Joe's partner. He is young and good looking and doesn't like to be told what to do. He think Joe is controling.

Roles:


Joe: Main Character. He is the main star and usually in all the main storylines. His friendship with Ray is up and down. Also the Swanson Family dealing with the move.

Bonnie: Main chatacter. Usually has storylines with Amy trying to ruin her business and Joe trying not make her work.

Kevin: We would mostly see him at college. He is intesrested in Carmen, a popular girl, but she goes out with Kev, who doesn't Kevin as he wants his girl plus his name is like his.

Susie: Usually has one or two moments.


Amy and Ray: To add to the stories and the love/hate for Joe (Ray) and Bonnie (Amy).



Like Family Guy: Of course with it having characters from the show but it doesn't use cut scenes.It follows a main storyline, a sub storyline or sometimes two. Some characters are spoofs of tv shows, such as CSI Wills is a spoof of Catherine Willows ffrom CSI.

Neil Goldman: World Reknowned Stud

Premise: Upon winning the grand lottery and coming into new wealth, Neil Goldman and his father Mort move to Los Angeles, California where the weather is nicer and there are more tourists for Mort to scam in all his different greedy scams. While there Mort falls and love and marries a gold-digger who fully takes advantage of him with sex appeal. Neil also falls in love when at a comic book convention he actually loses in a trivia challenge to a woman dressed up as Poison Ivy from Batman. Shocked that anybody could beat him in such nerd trivia, he is infatuated with this mystery girl and is determined to get with her. He soon finds out her real identity and is shocked to discover that it is a former reality tv star turned "actress" who is considered by many as a D-lister. Neil is now determined to not only get with her but help her become famous, often accidentally hurting things as apposed to helping. The show also follows around the lives of other center characters and with Neil's attempts to be cool and failing. Such things as becoming a pimp, becoming a porn actor only to, um, be over before it starts so to speak, trying to contact his mother's spirit, convincing himself his step-mother is an alien and determined to prove it, etc.

Main Characters:

Neil Goldman

The star of the spinoff. Neil is the same gross, nerdy kid with unwarranted confidence and cockiness. Finally over Meg, and now filthy rich, he has set his eyes on Paige, the new love of his life. He goes through great lengths to try(and ultimately failing) to woo her and to further her career. He also attempts to be cool, often with disasterous results. At different points be becomes a pimp, a failed porn actor, ghost hunter, searches for the holy grail, male model, etc. No matter what the situation, Neil is always the star and no matter what he does, things never quite go the way he plans them.

Mort Goldman

After becoming rich and moving to LA he is seduced and falls in love with Wendy, who he very quickly marries. He cannot say no to her and always falls for her charms, and since he is usually stingy and greedy, he starts coming up with ridiculous scams to try and rake in more cash by trying to outwit the tourists of LA.

Paige Valentine

A beautiful and surprisingly a comic book nerd former reality tv star D-lister turned wannabe actress. While a huge comic book fan, she is quite naive and desperate for attention and approval. Always trying to be in the public eye, she often does over the top things to try and appear somewhere in the ragmags. She will do such things as pull a commando shot or have an accidental nipslip or check into rehab for the 20th time. She is nice but doesn't have much of a mind of her own, often listening to what others tell her to do. She is trying to be an actress and isn't the worst, but her auditions and attempts to get in good with directors are often ruined, unbeknownst to her, by Neil who is actually trying to help her. She doesn't even notice Neil, no matter how bad he tries to get her attention.

Wendy Rolche-Goldman

Mort's new wife and always scheming gold-digger. She has a reputation for marrying rich men and divorcing them and walking away with a good chunk of change, but since Mort made her sign a pre-nuptual agreement she has to live this one out if she wants to maintain her lifestyle. She has a very mean-spirited attitude and whenever Mort isn't around she is yelling at the help or coming up with a plan to get even more money from him. She cheats on him a lot and always has guys over, often having to throw them off the terrace or something of the alike when Mort gets home early. She seduces him whenever she wants with him and when she gets what she wants just waves him away. Her and Neil hate each other and Neil is always setting up tricks/pranks/booby traps on her that often end with her getting minorly hurt or end up in an embarrassing situation.

Travis "T-........" Bloomer

Travis is Neil's only friend in LA. Travis is a huge wannabe, and in every episode he is dressed in a new style. In the pic you can see he is going for a 'wigger' look. He shortens his name to T-..... and fills in the .... with what is fittening with his current get up. Examples: T-Dawg, T-Stud, T-Situation, T-Chief. He refers to himself in the 3rd person, using his current alias. He tries to be a ladies man and sometimes it works, but more often than not it doesn't. Like Neil, he has high self-esteem and doesn't give up no matter how much he fails. He often finds himself involved in one of Neil's plans and always ends up getting hurt or something bad happening to him in the process. His personality changes based on his new outfit, but he is always over confident and trying to be a ladies man. He is not very smart either, and is very different from Neil when it comes to intelligence.

George Kix

George is a flamboyant and gay celebrity photographer and Paige's best friend. He is seen with her a lot and is often the one to come up with the outlandish things she does, like the commando shots and such mentioned above. A non-stop talking gossip and self-absorbed man, he has the personality of a 13 year old girl. He is fairly smart though and always notices Neil and is not quite sure what he up to, but generally tries to stop him from getting near Paige because he thinks he is a stalker. He is a good friend to Paige though and tries to help her the best way he knows how, which often ends up with him running her name through the mud in magazines. While he is a more supporting character, he makes a lot of appearances.

Rue "Rolche"

Rue is "Wendy's daughter". She isn't really and is a gothic, teenage runaway she hired to pretend to be her daughter and to help her milk Mort. Rue is a petty thief so Wendy has her do little things like breaking into vaults, finding places Mort hides his money, following Mort and spying on him. Rue has a very dry and satrical sense of humor. She hates the whole lot of them, but especially Wendy. While she finds Neil annoying she does take pleasure in watching him mess with her and on occasion will join in on the fun. While she has a dark sense of human and all around energy, Dickie, an energetic white rabbit follows her everywhere she goes and seems to care for her, which she will only show back if nobody else is around. A central character with various storylines.

Minor Characters: There are numerous one-time-used characters on the show, who often serve as directors, love interests, antagonists, etc.

Guest Appearances: They are in LA and there are a lot of celebrity quest appearances, often played for humor.

Returning characters: On the rare occasion we might see another Family Guy minor character somewhere in the background. Olivia is seen at a film audition. Consuela makes a brief appearance as someone Wendy is interviewing for a new housecleaner after one of Neil's scientific experiments turned the previous one into a can of lemon Pledge, which Consuela pockets on the way out.

Host: The show's name is kinda lame, but I do like the premise. And I admire the effort you put into the characters. The pics were a nice touch too. Neil is a pretty hilarious guy. And I could see this working. The Mort/Goldigger chick, I didnt like that much, but that was personal opinion.

Title: Kevin Swanson, AWOL (meant to be a play on Gomer Pyle, USMC)

Synopsis: After a failed suicide attempt, Kevin Swanson has struck rock bottom. Shunned by the community he lives in for going AWOL in Iraq and practically exiled from his family, he seeks comfort in fellow outcast, Meg Griffin.

After confiding in Meg for months, she and Kevin begin dating in secret, the pair decides to elope. This however is not kept secret for long. Upon over hearing a phone call between Meg and Kevin, Peter Griffin finds out about the marriage. Peter loses it; he calls in Bounty Hunter Mel Samuels to capture Kevin and have him tried for treason. Meg is able to warn Kevin, the duo steal Brian Griffin’s car and drive as far away from Quahog as they can. At a rest stop along their journey Kevin and Meg run into Hayley and Jeff Fischer at a truck stop. Jeff knows a woman named Guadalupe Roland who is setting up and underground community in the deserts of Nevada and decides to take Kevin and Meg to the underground community of Oculto.

Upon their arrival the colorful citizens of the community greet the pair. Kevin quickly builds friendly bonds between Earl, Billy, Shawn and Gustave. However, it is transsexual Cheryl Hoover that captivates Meg and Cheryl feels the same way. Meg is prepared to leave Kevin, admitting to herself that she married Kevin because he was the only person to treat her with respect, and begin living her life as Ron. Meg however finds out she is pregnant, and so decides to stay with Kevin until the baby is born.

One year later, baby Seth Swanson-Hoover is two months old and living with his newly married parents, Cheryl Hoover and the transitioning Ron Swanson. Kevin is distraught after the divorce and spends most of his days, drinking, adjusting to life in Oculto, and avoiding capture by Mel Samuels.

Characters:

Kevin Swason: Former U.S. soldier, who hoped to begin a new life in Oculto. His plans fell through when wife Meg Griffin decided to leave him and live her life a Ron with Cheryl Hoover. Kevin is depressed and suicidal but the support of his friends keeps him going. Kevin is notable for his half assed suicide attempts and pessimistic attitude.

Meg Swanson/Ron Swanson-Hoover: Fed up with her family, Meg leaves Quahog to begin a new life with Kevin Swanson. Meg intends to follow through with her plan, but when she falls in love with Cheryl Hoover, she opts to leave Kevin and begin life as Ron. A brief obstacle comes first with the pregnancy and birth of son, Seth. Ron now lives with his wife Cheryl and his son Seth.

Seth Swanson-Hoover: Seth is the son of Kevin Swanson and Ron Swanson-Hoover and as well as adoptive parent Cheryl Hoover-Swanson. Seth is often the victim of modern parenting fads. Unlike other babies in Seth MacFarlane’s universe, baby Seth is unable to talk.

Earl Weir: Earl Weir is a neurotic, self-professed ‘Warrior of Peace’ when Earl isn’t hanging out with the guys, he can be found creating new ways to take out ‘the man’.

Billy Perez: Young and energetic, Billy Perez is the living incarnation of Hispanic stereotypes. Working as a gardener at the Queen’s house, Billy aspires to become a professional soccer player and leave Oculto.

Shawn Beers: Bartender of the only common building in Oculto, Shawn is a popular person, but chooses to spend most of his time with fellow divorcee Kevin, drowning their sorrows in alcohol.

Gustave the Crocodile: A killer crocodile who committed a string of murders in Burundi. After a failed assassination attempt Gustave sought refuge in Oculto. Gustave is recognized for his sarcastic and dark sense of humour.

Mel Samuels: Bounty Hunter, called to Quahog by Peter Griffin to capture Kevin Swanson and have him tried for desertion. Mel is a delusional woman, she prefers to kill those she takes bounty on opposed to only capturing them who believes she is hot on Kevin’s trail, when in reality she is chasing a doppelganger of Kevin. Every time Mel attempts to kill ‘Kevin’ it always backfires. However, every attempt to kill ‘Kevin’ triggers a comical series of events that always ends with the real Kevin nearly being killed.

Cheryl Hoover-Swanson: Born Chester Hoover, transsexual Cheryl Hoover immediately takes interest Meg upon her arrival to their underground community. The relationship quickly escalates to a serious level. The two continue their relationship in secret until Meg gives birth to baby Seth. The pair marry shortly after.

Agnes Ryan: Cynical and grumpy, the ancient hippy enjoys berating citizens who do not share in all of her extreme leftist beliefs.

Queen Guadalupe Roland: A Hispanic woman who has created an underground community in the deserts of Nevada. Guadalupe has a highly inflated sense of ego and her power over the citizens of Oculto. She demands that she is referred to as ‘Queen’, among other ludicrous requests which are rarely followed.

Hayley Fischer: (cameo) Spouse of Jeff Fischer, Hayley briefly appears to help bring the newly forged Swanson family to the community of Oculto to seek refuge.

Jeff Fischer: (cameo) Spouse of Hayley Fischer, Jeff briefly appears to help bring the newly forged Swanson family to the community of Oculto to seek refuge.


What Makes it Unique: What sets Kevin Swanson, AWOL apart from Family Guy is mostly in the humour of the show, focusing more on black comedy. It also deviates from the standard fat guy, hot wife, three kids model.

However, it also has the same feel as other Seth MacFarlane shows due to familiar devices such as talking animals.

Ok first of all this was a very original idea. So you get a perfect score from me in that area. I loved the creativity. BUT, something you should have thought about after writing this was: does this have the potential to make people laugh like Family Guy does? I dont know. I know you said dark humor, but still. Sounds more like something we would watch at 10pm on Adult Swim
